Risk Retention Group
Registered Risk Retention Groups - A Risk Retention Group (RRG) is a liability insurance company organized for the primary purpose of insuring all, or any portion, of the liability exposure of its group members. The group members are the sole owners of the RRG and are all engaged in similar or related businesses or activities with respect to liability exposure. A registered risk retention group, although registered to transact the business of insurance in this Commonwealth, is not subject to all of the insurance laws and regulations of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In the event of the insolvency of a risk retention group, losses will not be paid by the Pennsylvania Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association.
